Re: [VWoT] My Tranny is fucked need help!
That's a whole load of good advice that's been dished out, like tmb says, we
really are a support group for each other, we should probably rename the
club Dubaholics Anonymous or something :) .....
Anyway, here's my 2 cents:
1. BEFORE you pull the tranny, open the green cover and check the clutch
release lever. There's a finger-like piece on its end that actually presses
on the release bearing. I've heard of them breaking. It's worth the 30
minutes and $5 for a new cover.
2. Should you decide to pull the tranny, remove the bracket that attaches
the tranny to its mount. It makes it easier to remove the box. It also may
be easier if you remover the forward lower bolt of the driver's A-Arm. this
will allow you to move the entire driveshaft/strut/steering knuckle away
from the drive flange enough to make it easier to take the tranny out. It
may save you from having to remove the driveshaft. (if you haven't already
done so, replace the 2 tranny seals and the rear crank seal)
Best of luck Marsh
