they would complement each head in a slightly
different way. from what i've gathered, the 2.0
head is better at low down grunt, while the 1.8
head is better suited for high end. or was it
the other way around?

meh, whatever the case may be, your best bet
would be to P&P and deck either head, as the end
result would end up being the same.

IM scirocco53 on the vortex if you have the money
to spend developing a 16V.

keep in mind that i love the 16V engine more than
most people, but i'm of the opinion that if you
intend to spend money increasing its power, you
should probably reconsider, and upgrade to a
1.8T. P&P/deck/refurbing a 16V head will cost
you in the range of about $1000. a set of cams
and valve springs to liven things up will tack on
another $600-1000. a proper header/exhaust is
going to be another $500-1500, 50mm intakes
usually go for between $300-400.

basically, you can get away with tuning a 16V for
some good power for fair money, but chances are
good that for equal money, you'll get equal power
with a 1.8T. and then have HUGE potential for
increased power afterwards. a chip alone will
give you about 30-60hp (as i recall) based on
what motor you have, and if you really have some
money to burn, 300-400hp is not difficult to get
to.

just something to keep in mind.
