I know the Viking Snowtech was last year's top rated tire by Consumer
Reports and I remember them being very cheap.

Ones that I have been eyeing are Bridgestone Potenza RE960 and Michelin
Pilot Exalto A/S each have been quoted around $135-150
That's pretty expensive for a 15" a/s tire. You should be able to find
something for under $100 easily. Don't get too hung up on brand names
either. I usually walk into the tire place i use regularly and just ask
them what specials they're running this year. They usually have something
they've imported that's not popular in North America yet but are well
known in Europe.
