Yup...
Sitting here with the gauge fully lit on the original wiring and the glass is noticeably hotter than the trim ring, so far.
The headlight bulb will be coming out for a blue peanut bulb.
Also, the gray wire with the blue stripe is the dimmable light wire. Gauge pod now dims with the interior, which I only ever have half lit anyway, so should help till I get the bulb replaced.

It shouldn't be getting that hot unless you have a silly high wattage bulb i=
n for the back light. Changing the wiring to have the light dim might make s=
ome difference.
