I would think it is on the customer if Audi has run their oil consumptio=
n test and validated that there is no 'issue'...as is the case for the 3 pe=
ople I know who've tried to get new motors.=20
=20
Plus if your oil light is on and you don't top it off who should be at f=
ault?
=20
J-rod told me a while back when i got the mkv, that it's really really d=
ifficult to get a new motor as a result of this issue unless the consumptio=
n is more than VW/Audi's test allows for...and because of how unreasonable =
the allowable consumption limit is it seems you'll pretty much be stuck hav=
ing to top off your oil every 3-4 fill ups as long as you own the car.=20

the manufacturer can't assume that their customers know how to even pop =

if the engine is damaged between regularly scheduled oil changes, and th=

the onus is still on the vehicle owner to check oil level between change=
s. If they run it dry and seize it then the mfg isn't going cover it regard=
less of how much oil the engines uses.

One would think emissions etc would suffer from that volume.
=20
Buddy at work correctly pointed out that if he follows the audi guidelin=
es for oilchanges, he will run out of oil before the next scheduled change.

engines 'using' oil seems to be a common issue with modern turbo 4's... =
MINI has the same issue with their 1.6T in the cooper S and they say the sa=

So I have a buddy here at work who has a 2 year old A4. He's
currently burning 1L of oil per 2000km. He's talked to Audi, and the=
y
tell him this is perfectly normal.
What do you smart people think? that sounds excessive to me...
