[VWoT] OT: cell phone repair

So I got myself one of them cleverphones.  Switched from Rogers to Wind in
the fall and got an LG Optimus 2X.

Which I dropped.  It somehow slipped out of my hand, time slowed down and
I saw it slowly fall to the ground screen-first.  The silicon case had no
time to help.

The good news is that other than having the outer "glass screen thing"
shattered and held together with the screen protector, the phone works
fine.

I've called a few places and have been quoted $120-125 to repair, with a
wait time of about a week until they can order in a new screen thingy.  Is
that about right?  Can anyone recommend a known-good place in
Etobicoke/Mississauga?

Alternatively, is what I need a "touch screen digitizer glass"?  They seem
to go for $50 on ebay direct from everyone's favourite manufacturing
country.  Has anyone replaced one by themselves?  Is it a "take apart very
carefully, install new glass, reinstall very carefully" job that could be
done by me?
